Sloppy editing changes Sen. Feinstein’s message
Channel 5 did a disservice to viewers due to sloppy editing. Conservatives might even call it biased. California Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein appeared on Meet The Press discussing President Obama’s approach with ISIS.
Channel 5 aired this portion of her interview. “I’ve learned one thing about this president and that is he is very cautious.” But what they didn’t air was the next line, “Maybe in this instance, too cautious.” This changes the whole meaning of what she said, making her critical of the President.
Whether broadcast, print or Internet, editors need to make sure they portray a speaker as accurately as possible. In this case, Channel 5 missed the mark.
