Media react to Kentucky athletics gaffe
Student newspapers often deal with more problems than just getting a story. The sports reporters at the Kernel, the University of Kentucky’s student newspaper, the Kernel, had their credentials rescinded by the athletic department for contacting a pair of walk-on basketball players without permission from the media relations department.
Reactions to the incident have been swift and www.kentucky.com reported that the Associated Press Managing Editors were among a group of institutions protesting the athletic department’s actions.
